Hello everyone! Did you try already Momodora, the charming Metroidvania game I talked about in the last entry? If you haven’t, I really commend you to give it a try, especially if you like classic style games. Actually, for this new entry I’m going to talk about yet another classic style game that, despite having been released pretty recently, it could have been released during the 32-bit era, a game that we can find inside Nintendo’s latest handheld system, the Nintendo 3DS, for Nintendo’s portable platform seems to be aiming to become the “new house of the JRPG,” just like its predecessor, the Nintendo DS, did before. The game is called The Legend of Legacy. Let´s see what this little tribute to classic JRPG games has to offer.

¡Hola a todos! ¿Habéis probado ya Momodora, el Metroidvania del que hablé en la última entrada? Si no lo habéis hecho aún, os lo recomiendo encarecidamente, sobre todo si os gustan los juegos de estilo clásico. Y hablando de juegos de estilo clásico, para esta entrada os traigo otro título que, a pesar de haber sido lazando recientemente, también podría haber sido lanzado perfectamente en la generación de los 32 bits y que pertenece al catálogo de Nintendo 3DS, y es que la portátil de Nintendo parece empeñada en convertirse la “nueva casa de acogida” del JRPG al igual que hiciera antes su predecesora. El juego es cuestión de llama The Legend of Legacy. Veamos qué nos ofrece este pequeño homenaje a los JRPG clásicos.

Hello everybody! How are the giant robots combats going with Vanguard Bandits, the Tactic JRPG I talked about in last entry? Good? In this new entry I’m going to talk about a game that, despite having been released pretty recently, it could have been released easily at the same time that Vanguard Bandits almost 20 years ago now. It’s a game which existence I completely ignore up until now and that I discovered just by pure coincidence while I was checking around Steam, and oh boy it was love on first sight. Actually, I´m pretty surprised I never heard anything about this game before, for I’m one of those that checks the new and reviews on a daily basis, but I guess this is just one more proof of how much (and fast) the game industry keeps growing, making it more and more difficult to keep up with all the titles that are released month after month (and even more difficult to have time to play them all!), specially when most of the media seems to focus mainly in the titans of the industry. The discovery of Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, which is the title of the game I’m going to talk about, has taken me back directly to the times where there was no internet or smartphones to allowed you to stay up to date with the latest news anywhere and anytime (yes, yes… I’m that old…), making me feel again the magic of the times when my dad use to take me to the local game store where you could discover all the new releases, and where I use to spend hours and hours checking the back side of the boxes, trying to figure out what the game would be like by looking at the couple of screenshots displayed in the box (yup, no HD trailers neither, just your imagination…) Good old times… But those were other times, and now is time for Momodora, so let’s see what this new jewel of the videogame indie scene has to offer, for it seems it has the potential to become a cult classic.

¡Muy buenas a tod@s! ¿Qué tal van los combates de robots gigantes de Vanguard Bandits, el Tactic JRPG de que hablé en la última entrada? ¿Bien? Para esta nueva entrada os traigo un juego que, si bien ha sido lanzado hace escasos meses, podría haber sido lanzado perfectamente en la misma época que Vanguard Bandits hace ahora ya casi 20 años. Es un juego que desconocía por completo y que descubrí recientemente por pura casualidad mientras chafardeaba un rato por Steam, y nada más verlo fue amor a primera vista. La verdad es que me sorprendió no haber escuchado hablar jamás de este juego hasta ahora, pues soy de los que mira noticias y análisis a diario por toda la web, pero está claro que ésta nuestra industria no para de crecer, y que cada vez se hace más difícil seguir al rastro de todos y cada uno de los títulos interesantes que son lanzados mes tras mes, sobre todo cuando la mayoría de los medios están centrados casi exclusivamente en los titanes de la industria. El descubrimiento de Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, que es como se llama el juego es cuestión, me ha transportado directamente a los tiempos cuando aún no había internet ni smartphones para estar siempre informado de lo último estés donde estés (sí, soy así de viejo ya…), y me ha hecho sentir de nuevo la magia de cuando mi padre me llevaba a la tienda de videojuegos local donde podías ver todas las novedades, y donde pasaba horas y horas mirando las contraportadas de los juegos para descubrir más sobre ellos (sí, tampoco había tráilers en HD, solo tu imaginación…) Qué tiempos… Pero esos eran otros tiempos, y ahora es tiempo de Momodora, así que veamos que nos ofrece esta pequeña joya indi, pues es un título que tiene pinta de convertirse en un juego de culto.

Hello everyone! How are the beatings going with Aquapazza, the 2D fighting game of which I talked about in the last entry? In this new entry we are going to travel back in time no more and no less than 20 years to talk about a game that belongs to the 32-bit era and that achieved the cult status through the years after its release, eventually being re-released as a downloadable game for the PS3. The game is called Vanguard Bandits. Do you like Japanese mechas (giant robots) and strategy games? If the answer is yes, keep reading, for I´m sure this game is made for you.

En esta nueva entrada vamos a viajar atrás en el tiempo, casi 20 años ni nada ni nada menos, para hablar de un juego perteneciente a la era de los 32 bits y que alcanzó el estatus de culto en los años posteriores a su lanzamiento, y que hace un par de años fue relanzado para PS3 a través del sistema de descargas digitales de la plataforma. El juego es cuestión se llama Vanguard Bandits. ¿Os gustan los mechas (robots gigantes) japoneses y los juegos de estrategia? Hello everyone! After the last entry dedicated to Mercenaries Saga 2, the Tactic RPG game for the Nintendo 3DS, in this new entry we are going back once again to the 2D fighting genre with one of the last games released in the genre for the PlayStation 3, a game that follows the path of Under Night In-Birth, a fighting game of which I talked about a couple of entries back, as well as many other fighting games I have talked about in this blog. The game is called Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match. Let’s see what one of the last fighting games of the previous generation has to offer.

Hello everyone! How is the brawling going with Under Night? After the last entry dedicated to French Bread’s fighting game, in this new entry we are going to go back to the Tactic RPG genre with a game that might have gone undetected for many of you. Nowadays it’s impossible to deny that the download services have become an essential part of the industry, allowing many companies to release their games without having to face all the “buts” you might find when showing your game to the big editors, thus allowing the players to enjoy some gaming jewels that other ways might have made its way to the market, such as Castle Crashers, Limbo, Braid, Child of Light or Valiant Hearts among many others. Although it is true that most of these titles are released for the trinity composed of Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network and the almighty Steam, from time to time we can also find certain gaming jewels in other download services, like the case of Azure Striker Gunvolt, a game of which I already talked a few entries back in this blog and that was only available in the Nintendo 3D’s eShop (although later on the game made its way also to Steam), and it’s precisely in Nintendo’s download service where we can find the game I want to talk about in this entry. The game is called Mercenaries Saga 2: Order of the Silver Eagle. Let’s see what this little downloadable title has to offer.

¡Hola a tod@s! ¿Qué tal van las ensaladas de hostias con Under Night? Tras la última entrada dedicada al juego de combates de French Bread, en esta nueva entrada vamos a volver al género de Tactic RPG con un juego que quizá haya pasado desapercibido para muchos. Hoy en día es imposible negar que las plataformas de descarga digital se han convertido en una parte esencial de la industria, permitiendo a muchas compañías lanzar sus títulos sin tener que enfrentarse a todas la trabas que puede suponer proponer tu juego a las grandes editoras, lo cual está permitiendo a los jugadores disfrutar de algunas joyas que, de no haber sido por este tipo de plataformas, quizá nunca hubieran visto la luz, como por ejemplo Castle Crashers, Limbo, Braid, Child of Light o Valiant Hearts entre muchos otros. Aunque es cierto que la mayoría de estos títulos suelen llegar a través de la “santísima trinidad” compuesta por Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network y el todopoderoso Steam, de vez en cuando también podemos encontrar ciertas joyas en otras plataformas de descarga, como, por ejemplo, Azure Striker Gunvolt, juego del que ya hablé en este blog y que en su momento estuvo disponible en exclusiva la eShop de Nintendo 3DS (aunque más tarde el juego también acabaría llegando a Steam), y es precisamente en el servicio de descarga digital de la exitosa portátil de Nintendo donde podremos encontrar el juego del que hablaré en esta entrada. After the last entry dedicated to one of the last great JRPG (or games in general) released by Konami, in this new entry we are heading back once again to the 2D fighting genre with a title that belongs to the new golden era that the genre is living at the moment, and more specifically to that group of Japanese games that look like interactive fighting animes in which we can find also games like Chaos Code, Nitroplus Blasterz, Dengeki Bunko, Koihime Enbu or Ougon Musou. The game is called Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late. Let´s see what this new fighter has to offer other than just another name incredibly difficult to remember.

El juego en cuestión se llama Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late. Veamos qué nos ofrece este nuevo juego de combates además de otro nombre casi imposible de recordar.

Hello everyone! How is it going? How are is the fighting going with Dengeki Bunko? I’m sure some of you who have been following me “from the shadows” had long sleepless nights lately, worried about to the complete absence of new entries during the last weeks, thinking if perhaps I had decided to finally abandon the blog, right?
