Hello everyone! How are your adventures in the “promised land” going so far? Good? After a few hectic days redecorating my cave with some furniture I recently bought in a famous Scandinavian furniture shop, it´s time for a new entry. For this new entry I bring you an indie game develop by a single guy. Yup, one of those few chosen ones with enough talent to put together a whole game just by themselves, and a really good one I must add. The game is called Mystik Belle. Let´s see what this small tribute to classic adventures has to offer.

¡Hola a tod@s!

Hello everyone! How is your gaming coming along this year so far? Did you try already Luminous Arc, the Tactic JRPG of which I talked about in the last entry? If you haven’t, I strongly recommend you to do so, especially to those who are waiting for SQEX to deliver another entry of their classic albeit recently abandoned franchise Final Fantasy Tactics, for I´m sure this little great game won´t disappoint you. In this entry, just like I did before with the list of fangames based on the Final Fight (see here) and Mega Man (see here) franchises, I´m going to talk about some Beat Em up fangames created using the popular open source OpenBOR engine which are based on several sword & sorcery arcade classics from the 90s, and which will surely please the fans of this once fan favorite genre, for all of them deliver a more than decent piece of entertainment, especially when you think that they are games made by fans, and what is more important, completely FREE. In fact, their quality standards are so high that many of them could have perfectly been official sequels to the original tittles, so let´s see what these little gems of old school indie gaming have to offer.

¡Hola a tod@s!

Luminous Arc - Pocket Tactic RPG

Hello everyone! It´s a new year, so it´s time for a new entry! How did you start this new year? All good? Beating the crap out of anyone who crosses your way? Now, now, I was talking about the versus fighting game of which I talked about in the last entry. Please, leave the beatings for videogames and be good boys and girls, ok? Anyway, in this entry I´m going to talk about yet another interesting JRPG hidden among the enormous catalogue of Nintendo´s popular double screen portable system, a game called Luminous Arc, a title that went kinda unnoticed at the moment of its release, perhaps due to the small amount of copies of the game that were shipped (as unfortunately it always happens with this kind of game), and to the fact that in 2007 everyone had their attention focused already on the back then new generation consoles that were starting to show to the gaming community the first titans that would end up ruling the whole generation such as Gears of War, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Assassin´s Creed, Bioshock, Halo 3 o Mass Effect. So let´s see what this interesting little Tactic JRPG has to offer.

Luminous Arc - Rol táctico de bolsillo

¡Hola a tod@s! ¡Año nuevo, entrada nueva! ¿Cómo hemos empezado el año? ¿Bien?

Ougon Musou Kyoku X - Tag or die

Hello everyone! Did you try already Knights in the Nightmare, the Tactic JRPG of which I talked about in the last entry? Or was it a Tower Defense? Nah, I guess is a Shoot Em up, right? Anyway, I don´t know what it is, or if you will be able to pass even the tutorials, but I recommend you to be patient and give the game a chance, because once you get used to it, I guarantee you will discover a game unlike any other you have ever played before. For this new entry, the last of 2015 (it´s been almost a year since I started with my mumbo jumbo about videogames, time flies!), since we are in the Holidays season where dreams come true, I´m going to talk to you about a fairy tale with a happy ending, and I´m not talking about the game story itself, but about its development story, for the game belongs to that small group of lucky chosen ones like Melty Blood (also a 2D versus game), or the charming Shoot Em Up Trouble Witches, games that were released as humble Doujin titles (a.k.a. Japanese indie games) for PC, and that ended up being released in major platforms. The game is called Ougon Musou Kyoku. Let´s see what this new indie versus fighting game has to offer.

Knights in the Nightmare - Nightmares have never been this fun

HAZ CLIC AQUÍ PARA LEER ESTA ENTRADA EN ESPAÑOL.

Hello everyone! Are you having fun with Phantom Breaker, the versus fighting from the last entry and it´s "small brother"? Pure “Made in Japan”, huh? In this new entry I´m going to talk about a game that is one of a kind. Those of us who have been playing games for a quite a while now know that Japanese games (although it could easily be applied also to the rest) are full of stereotypes and clichés that repeat themselves again and again in and almost endless spiral of which Japanese never seem to get enough, and a good example of that could be precisely the game from the last entry. However, it cannot be denied that from time to time, among its many bizarre creations (at least from a western point of view), a gem rises to dazzle the whole gamer community, one of those games that when you see it you instantly think “this must be Japanese”, games that have that Japan only flavor, games like Vagrant Story and the recent and brilliant Catherine, games that remind us that when Japan wants, they are capable of delivering games that only the Land of the Rising Sun can deliver, and the game I´m about to talk about is one of them. It´s a game of which I wanted to talk for a long time, but always hesitated since I think it´s difficult to explain its unique nature with words, however, I think it´s a game that deserves to be known, therefore I´ll try my very best to explain it the best I can. There is just one thing I can guarantee you, well actually two: one is that I´m sure you´ve never played anything quite like it before, and two and most important is that, like it or not, one just cannot deny the quality the title displays in each of its aspects, especially if you like Tactic JRPG games. Dear readers (if there are any), I introduce you to Knights in the Nightmare.

Knights in the Nightmare - Un Tactic JRPG único en su especie

¡Hola a tod@s!

Phantom Breaker Extra - VS Made in Japan

Hello everyone! Did you try already World of Destruction, the JRPG for the Nintendo DS of which I talked about in the last entry? I´m sure the game brought back some memories to those who used to play JRPG games back in the 90s. In this entry I´m going to talk about Phantom Breaker Extra, another of those “Made in Japan” versus games full of samurai lolitas, ninja maidens and all that bizarre stuff that the Japanese (and some not Japanese) love so much, and it´s charming spin-off with chibi characters called Phantom Breaker Battle Ground.

Hello everyone! How is it going? Did you try already Dark Awaken, the versus game set in a world of sword and sorcery of which I spoke in the last entry? Previously I talked about Nostalgia, a classic style JRPG for the Nintendo DS, and in this new entry I´m going to talk about another of those “lost JRPG games” hidden among the extensive catalogue of Nintendo´s massively successful double screen portable console. The game is called Sands of Destruction.
