Hello everyone! How is it going bouncing around with Wizorb? Having some nice retro style fun? Hope so! Anyway, as I´m sure many of those who follow daily all the happenings that take place in this industry of pixels and polygons that we all adore so much, in the late years we´ve been assisting to some kind of “resurrection” of the 2D fighting games, some kind of “second golden era” for this genre that so much glory brought to the game industry during the 90s after Capcom gave way to the storm of punches, kicks and energy balls of all shapes and colors with the timeless classic Street Fighter 2, and in which we can also find other franchises that have written their name in golden letters in the history of gaming (and the minds of millions of gamers around the word), like several of the tittles of the legendary SNK such as The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown y Art of Fighting, and, in a relatively smaller scale, others such as World Heroes, Mortal Kombat or Killer Instinct. Although the genre didn´t never quite completely disappear, in the decade of the 2000, except for Japan where the genre has always been popular since its beginnings, specially in the competitive scene, things cooled down a bit (actually a lot) for Ryu, Ken and all their friends despite the birth or new fan-favorite franchises such as the popular Guilty Gear series. In fact, things cooled down so much, that it was during these dark times for the 2D fighting genre that Capcom officially announced their retirement from the genre that they once ruled together with Osaka neighbors SNK, as they though the genre was not relevant anymore in times where the new tendency was the 3D and the Hollywood style cut-scenes, till a few years later, Capcom, as the proud champ that just cannot leave behind his former days of glory, changed their minds and decided to bring back the genre big time with the fourth installment (leaving aside the trillions of updated versions) of their successful fighting franchise, which just like its predecessors, was critically acclaimed and topped the sales charts around the world, and which was followed by new entries in the above mentioned series Guilty Gear and The King of Fighters, together with other classics such as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 also from Capcom and Mortal Kombat, on top of the birth of new franchises as the impressive BlazBlue, starting like this the above mentioned second golden era of 2D fighting games that continues nowadays, and which seems it will not end anytime soon, for not only recently we could witness the release of the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Guilty Gear Xrd (still cannot believe what Arc System Works guys were able to pull off with this game), but soon we will receiving also new entries from Street Fighter itself and other games such as BlazBlue and Mortal Kombat for the new generation consoles, including a Dragon Ball game for Nintendo 3DS from the fathers of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, and which looks pretty promising. Although probably the genre will never recover all the former glory and glamour of the first golden era back in the 90s, when it was able to summon legions of fans eager to show off their new moves in front of the expecting crowd in the local arcades, the future for this genre that not so long ago seemed to be decided to leave Ryu, Ken and all their friends jobless (or begging for money in some weird Japanese pachinko machine) seems now very promising, and is precisely inside this future that we can find the game I want to talk about in this entry, a humble doujin game that pretends to compete with the titans of the genre that fight for the heavyweight champion title of the 2D fighting games genre, a game that I always wanted to talk about since I first saw a previous version of it a couple of years ago. Have you ever dreamed of a 2D fighting game that mixes the more strategic rhythm of Street Fighter 3 with the frantic combats of The King of Fighters series? Well, I introduce you all Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm. Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm - El discípulo de la vieja escuela
¡Buenas a tod@s!
legendaria SNK tales como The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown y

Hello everyone! Are you having fun with the fan-made adventures of Capcom´s famous Blue Bomber that introduced you in the last entry? In case all those games were not enough to satisfy your “Blue Thirst”, remember you can always buy also the replica of Mega Man´s helmet that Capcom has made available through their website, although keep in mind that some started like that, and ended up making some of us think that the “Mega Man” (note I added the quotation because I sill doubt if you really can call him that) from Street Fighter X Tekken was not so bad after all... Anyway, do you remember Arkanoid? I´m sure the most veteran players out there will remember the simple but addictive classic arcade that Taito released in the 80s inspired in the yet even more classic Breakout of Atari, in which we controlled some kind of bar-shaped space ship in order to make a ball bounce around the stage to destroy all the blocks so that we could access the next stage. I still remember those whole afternoons I used to spend playing this game with my parents in our old Amstrad CPC 464, well that, and the tripping faces of some of my friends after following the ball through the screen for hours... But in this new entry I will not to talk about Arkanoid, but about a rather recent indie game that follows on the steps of Taito´s timeless classic. The game I´m talking about is the charming Wizorb. Ready to bounce around?

¡Hola a tod@s!

The legacy of Mega Man
Hello everyone! Did you help Tingle to gather all the rupees he needs to go to paradise? No yet? I know, I know, he is a rather weird dude, but in the end I´m sure you will kinda get to like him... Anyway, a few entries back I talked to you about the best fangames inspired on one of my favorite Capcom´s classic franchises, Final Fight, so now that the much anticipated Mighty No. 9, a game that is destined to be the spiritual successor of Mega Man, is about to be released in just a few weeks, in this new entry I bring you several fangames inspired in the adventures of video games´ most famous blue robot to warm up a little bit while Inafume-san and his team wrap up their latest adventure.
El legado de Mega Man
¡Hola a tod@s! ¿No?

Hello everyone! How are those advanced classes in psychiatry and survival going? Good? I hope the continued exposure to high doses of madness has no affected too much your minds, at least not yet. Well, you cannot complain I didn´t warn you. Anyway, to try to compensate a little bit all the darkness from the last entry (the madness perhaps not so much), in this new entry I bring you something more happy, to be more specific is one the best 2D platform games I had the pleasure to play in recent years, and probably also one of the most challenging. I´m talking about “Prinny, Can I Really Be the Hero?”. Let´s see what the adventure of videogame´s most famous (and charming) penguin-like creature has to offer.

Me estoy refiriendo a Prinny, Can I Really Be the Hero?.

Darkest Dungeon - Welcome to madness
HAZ CLIC AQUÍ PARA LEER ESTA ENTRADA EN ESPAÑOL.
Hello everyone! A few entries back I talked about Valdis Story, a “Metroidvania” indie game that was funded through the popular Kickstarter website, a website dedicated to the crowdfunding that has contributed to fund some recent indie gems such as Shovel Knight, a tribute to the 8-bits era adventures, or Mighty No. 9 and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, two games destined to be the spiritual successors of fan favorite classic franchises such as Mega Man and Castlevania respectively, and that are being developed by their original creators, who released a campaign in Kickstarter to fund their new projects after abandoning their former companies to create their own studios, collecting more than four and five million dollars for their projects, proving like this that some classic franchises are far from being as dead as some companies want to make us believe, at least among the most veteran players. Well, in this new entry I bring you yet another indie game that was funded through Kickstarter, and although it might not have made as much noise as the games I mentioned before during its funding campaign, it called my attention since the very first time I saw it, as it transmitted that feeling that one cannot describe but that you only feel with certain gaming gems, for the game certainly shines in many aspects. I´m talking about Darkest Dungeon. Ready to travel to the deeps of darkness and madness?

Hello everybody! How is everything going? Having fun with the adventures I introduced to you until now? Did you help the English to free Mars from the evil Spanish conquistadors and their alien allies? Did you already bring back justice the streets of Metro City? Did you help Bunny to purge the world from the presence of perverted vampires with fire-spitting ding dongs? No, please! Don´t you answer all at the same time, you might collapse the server of the blog... Anyway, here I am one more entry ready to bring you another of those games that deserves a little bit more recognition in the video game world due to its quality, even though this time it´s a game that could be somehow “morally and ethically” controverter depending on the point of view of the reader. The game I´m talking about is Vanguard Princess. Ready to see a few pantie... I mean, to deliver some punches...

¡No, no!
